Back Ground Check

Back-Ground Check

BGC - Back Ground Check is an important requisite for every organisation. Friendship and Engagement with strangers, without back-ground verification is could lead to a disaster, as many of us have learnt thru heard experiences.

Whether it is an individual or an organisation, this fore sight and hind sight should be the guiding factor.

Many speakers (especially politicians and statesmen) quote famous quotation to emphasise the point of Indian Culture is to treat the entire world as a single family.

But, is it practical and possible??
No.

Contrary to popular perception, the verse, they quote: is not a verse from Vedas/ Puranas.
Rather, it is from recent text. And the context is a spoof teaching people to be street smart.

In the story from Pancha Tantra: A Jackal, plotting to devour the flesh of a deer, befriends him. To ward off advice from well-wishers of the deer, the Jackal quotes the below verse in Pancha Tantra.

अयं निजः परो वेति गणना लघु चेतसाम्।
उदारचरितानान्तु वसुधैव कुटुम्बकम्।।।

(ayaM nijaH paroveti gaNanA laghu-chetasAm
udAra charitAnAM tu vasudhaiva kuTumbhakam ||)

""This is my own and that a stranger" - is the calculation of the narrow-minded, For the magnanimous-hearts however, the entire earth is but a family"

The wily Jackal asks the deer to be large hearted and be friendly to strangers. Falling for the juicy words of Jackal, the deer becomes unsuspectingly over friendly.

Pouncing on a negligent moment, the Jackal lays a trap to kill the deer. However, the deer was rescued by the diligent friend (a crow in the story), who causes the villain to fall into the trap it laid.

Moral: Without proper assessment never fall for the over the counter  (OTC) prescriptions/ advices/ lure of proposals.

It may not work out and could likely put you into deeper trouble. We do not know the intentions of people appearing friendly.

All hard looking things, need not be harsh in real sense.
All polished looking things, might not be beneficial.

सन्तः परीक्ष्यान्यतरद् भजन्ते मूढः परप्रत्यय नेय बुद्धिः - कालिदासः.

A wise person will carefully examine the pros and cons of a proposal to select the option. Only foolish people will go by the the perception of others.
